Implants
The use of implants has been well established for enough years now to have complete confidence in their reliability.
They are used to support one or more crowns, bridges or to give improved stability and retention for full dentures. They are fixed permanently in the bone.
Our visiting Consultant Oral Surgeon would carry out a preliminary assessment, with an appropriate x-ray survey and an operating appointment made. Using a suitable local anaesthetic, a titanium device is screwed into the bone and the gum flap sealed over it. The healing process lasts about six weeks to allow the bone to solidify around the metal.
After this the usual impressions are taken to allow a crown, bridge or denture to be made and then fitted to the implant. This process is now a standard procedure and the surgical stage is carried out in one of the practice surgeries, which is set up as a mini operating theatre. We observe all the necessary sterile operating and cross infection control procedures.
The fee for a single tooth implant and crown, to include the Consultant's surgical fees, the dentist's surgery time and the laboratory costs is about £2200.
Estimates for more units, bridgework or denture retention would be given, depending on the complexity of the case.
